I enjoyed a perfect summer’s day at the Hawk Conservancy today, watching their amazing flying displays.
Of all the small falcons, the Lanner Falcon is among the most beautiful and graceful in flight even though it isn’t as well known as its famous cousin, the Peregrine. This shot caught the moment “Chaucer” took to the air, which proceeded to be an eventful display. Chaucer was enjoying the thermals so much he disappeared from view, causing some worried looks on the faces of the falconers. Telemetry was summoned to track him, but about 10 mins later Chaucer reappeared, stooping out of the sun, back to the glove!
