Arctic Wolf
AVAILABLE TO BUY:
Recently I spent an extremely interesting afternoon visiting an open day at the UK Wolf Conservation Trust (UKWCT) at their base in Beenham near Reading, Berkshire.
The Trust isn’t a zoo, apart from occasional open days it’s open only for pre-arranged visits by members. It’s home to 12 “ambassadorial” wolves, a mix of various Canus lupus sub-species. The most recent additions are 3 Arctic wolves from Canada who are absolutely beautiful and have clearly bonded well with their handlers at the Centre.
It’s definitely the best location I’ve seen in the UK to photograph wolves in a naturalistic environment, the enclosures are large with banked areas and trees that provide a lovely background. One enclosure even features a waterfall.
The Trust’s primary mission is to raise awareness of wolf conservation issues globally and fund conservation projects in many parts of the world. Please visit their website and find out more about their invaluable work, some of the global locations where they are helping wolf populations may surprise.
By purchasing a print of this image you are also helping the Trust directly as I donate a percentage of profits back to them.
