Golitha Falls
AVAILABLE TO BUY:
In the heart of Cornwall, just beyond the southern edge of Bodmin Moor lies a very special place indeed. It’s name is Golitha Falls National Nature Reserve.
This is a classic English woodland, a mixture of mainly oak and ash trees, beautiful at any time of year. It’s also a wonderful haven for wildlife, if you’re patient you may spot otters, up to 30 recorded species of birds including kingfisher, buzzard and dipper as well as large number of butterflies and dragonflies.
This was my first visit to Golitha Falls and my time was limited so I was really investigating the area and paying particular attention to the series of wonderful rocky cascades that the River Fowey drops through in the reserve. I’ll be heading back there with more gear and more time to do this wonderful environment justice later in the year when the autumn colours should be truly spectacular.
You can find out more information about Golitha Falls including a map of the reserve on the Natural England website.
