Great Skua flyby

This image of a Great Skua was taken from the deck of a fishing boat about 2 miles out to sea in the Pentland Firth, between the Scottish mainland and the Orkney Isles in the summer of 2009.
My boat skipper showed me how shiny objects glinting in the sun seem to attract the Skua very close, but he was very wary of my lens, as soon as I raised the camera he would dart away so it took a few goes to get this image!
