Meadow Pipit

Often wildlife images work best when they are very simple. This Meadow Pipit is a good example. This was captured on the shore of Loch Buidhe, Sutherland which I visited in the hope of finding Ospreys fishing. No such luck, but I was rewarded by several Pipits darting along the shoreline with their high, piping calls.

The members of the Pipit family are quite similar but I’m pretty sure I have the right identification of this one as the Rock Pipt has darker legs and the Tree Pipit has a shorter hind claw and heavier bill.
