The Red-Legged Thrush is a pretty songbird of the Caribbean. It’s endemic to just a few islands in the Greater Antilles, including Cuba where I found this one.

During the days I spent on Cayo Las Brujas, I would go out at dawn every morning, searching the mangroves surrounding my hotel on the lookout for interesting bird species. This little one regularly hopped along behind me on those early morning photo walks, seemingly unconcerned by my presence and I got a real sense that he was in fact following me out of curiosity to see what I was up to!
